The Trail: I'm Going To Need You To Show Up!! :)

Things have been interesting. Knocking on doors, meeting people, filing paperwork and learning about “the process” which is really what I want to share today, because you can play an important role.

Before that however, I wanted to share a quick update. I’ve been attending a lot of the county meetings as well as watching them on YouTube, both live and recorded. I’ve been doing that for quite a while now. If you’re unfamiliar with that resource you can go to the Goochland County YouTube page by following this link.

I really believe the board has done a great job with its number one goal in the strategic plan - efficient, effective, and transparent government with emphasis on customer service excellence. If you check out last week’s 3:00PM meeting you might even hear someone you know making a comment. Check it out at about the 18:30 mark at this link.

And now, I want to write briefly about the primaries for this year and how you can play an important role. I am seeking the nomination of the Republican Party to run on the ticket in November. Here is the process as it was explained to me this week:

“The nomination process is conducted in the mass meeting. It’s a “Highlander” kind of thing for the Republican and/ Democratic candidates - there can be only one.”

The way it works is that there will be a meeting in May, the date is TBD but I will send it out as soon as I receive it. In the meeting I will need registered Republicans from District 2 to vote for me to become the Party nominee. If no one else seeks the Republican nomination for District 2 then it should be straight forward. However, there is likely to be another person who will be running for the nomination. And while I think that’s great for the district, offering a choice, it does make my job more difficult. So, I am asking for you to consider supporting me at the meeting. More details soon.

That’s all for now…thanks for taking the time to read this!!
